Florence is not just the cradle of Renaissance art. It’s a container of western art from the Middle Ages to the Renaissance. And it’s in the churches, as much as in the museums, where you should look for this art.
This post is first in a series I will be doing on the astonishing art to be found in Florence’s churches. This topic goes beyond art, to include the encouragement I want to extend to visitors to seek out lesser-known locations where art can be enjoyed with a modicum of tranquility.
