A Guide to Rome's Historic Center

I have received a lot of requests lately from friends and clients for information on the main neighborhoods in Rome's historic center, and how to navigate them.

First of all, it matters where you stay.

Rome, like any city that calls itself a capital in the industrialized world, is big. Big can mean overwhelming. Big can mean long distances to cross. Big can mean standing on a hot sidewalk waiting too long for a bus, that's so crowded you can't get on it. Big can mean schlepping your family through metro stations and suffering in the heat of the non-airconditioned linea B Metro.

You don't have to get overwhelmed, and you don't have to waste time on public transportation if you stay in the historic center.
